With Christmas break coming up for the kids, and guests staying over, you’ll want to find some ways to keep everybody entertained. If the house is getting a little crowded and you’re looking for some fun Christmas activities for the whole family, then we’ve got your list of Southeast Michigan Christmas events right here!

Christmas Light Displays

Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo

If you and your kids love the Detroit Zoo, don’t miss out on Wild Lights! Running from now through January 9, 2022, you can stroll through trees, buildings, and animal sculptures all covered in festive lighting. There is also live entertainment, ice carving, arts and crafts, and a holiday train display! Tickets cost $17-$24 and parking costs $8.

Glenlore Trails Aurora

If you’re looking for a light show among the trees, then Glenlore Trails Aurora running from now through January 2, 2022 is perfect for you! The 1/2-mile nature trail in the middle of the Multi Lakes Conservation Association is lit up with dazzling lights covering the trees and interactive light exhibits, too. Tickets cost $25 for ages 13+, $20 for seniors, and $15 for youth.

Hometown Holiday in Chelsea

Chelsea is getting in the Christmas spirit with an event nearly every day in December! Some things they have planned are the Pop Up Holiday Market and Cheers To This Claus For A Cause on the 17th, Santa Virtual Storytime on the 24th, and Let It Snow Contest on the 25th. Holiday Stroll at Canterbury Village

The Holiday Stroll at Canterbury Village runs from now through December 23, and the Village will be full of fun Christmas characters and decorations. Plus, you can fill up on hot chocolate and local food trucks while you’re there! Tickets are $15 per person and $5 for parking, military veterans and children under 2 get in free.

Themed Christmas Events and Theatre Shows

Holiday Bricktacular at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan

For LEGO fanatics, the Holiday Bricktacular is not to be missed. In addition to the Christmas decorations, there will be a life-size LEGO sleigh as well as the chance to build Santa’s sleigh and race against friends and family. The event runs from now through December 31, and tickets start at $23.


For a true one-of-a-kind Christmas experience, bring the family to SEA LIFE Aquarium for the FISH-MAS celebration! Not only can you enjoy the aquarium’s Christmas decorations, but you may even see Scuba Claus and his underwater elves swimming by. Plus, the cold water Touchpool will be full of bright red and green sea anemones for you to pet. The event runs from now through December 31, and tickets cost $23.

A Christmas Carol at Meadow Brook Theatre

Watch one of the most iconic Christmas stories unfold right before your eyes at Meadow Brook Theatre! The show will run from now through December 23, so get your tickets while you can. This will be the 39th year of performance for A Christmas Carol at the Meadow Brook Theatre, and tickets cost $35 each.
